Recycle Week to focus on 'forgotten' recyclables

Recycle Week, which will be held on 2-6 June, will focus on encouraging the public to recycle the most frequently forgotten household products.

The event will be promoted by television presenter Gail Porter, who will give interviews around the UK to highlight the environmental benefits if everyone was to recycle "just one more" item of household waste.

In particular, the campaign will reveal the effect on carbon footprint if consumers recycled often overlooked household items such as aerosols, plastic shampoo bottles and cleaning products containers.

The campaign will be supported by regional events held by local authorities to raise awareness of the benefits of recycling and information about how to do it.

The fifth annual Recycle Week has been organised by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (Wrap), in partnership with British Glass, Corus, Novelis, PaperChain and Recoup.

Marks & Spencer has not yet confirmed whether it will launch its new packaging website that it provisionally hoped to launch alongside Recycle Week.

The website will feature M&S's packaging optimisation work, a glossary of materials and a list compiled by Wrap detailing which of M&S's products are recyclable.
