Bettapack warehouse gutted by fire
Bettapack in Macclesfield is counting the cost of a fire that gutted its cardboard-filled warehouse on Tuesday (27 May).
The firm, which produces point-of-sale packaging, blister cards, solid fibreboard cartons, and corrugated and die-cut cases, said the security guard raised the alarm. None of the four members of staff was on the premises at the time.
A total of 10 fire crews rushed to burning units in Redwood Court, on Tytherington Business Park, at 9.15pm and fought the flames until after dawn.
Crews from Macclesfield, Bollington, Poynton and Congleton tackled the blaze with high-pressure jets and wore breathing apparatus.
Bettapack director Mrs Votham, who declined to give her full name, said "everything" was destroyed by the fire.
Three relief crews took over at 2pm today and continue to dampen down the site.
The fire brigade closed local roads and advised people to avoid the area.
