Sustainability issues to top Interplas 2008
The sustainability of plastics will top the agenda at Interplas 2008, the plastics exhibition.
The exhibition will be opened by Stuart Patrick, chairman of the Polymer Society, which is running the event with the British Plastics Federation.
His talk, PVC: sustainability – the facts and myths, will look at environmental issues. Other talks will focus on energy management in processing and energy efficiency.
The event's second and third days will look at design and innovation with polymers through several seminars from the University of Bradford and its industrial partners.
Experts will look at the science, engineering, design and aesthetics of polymers as well as the history of plastics.
"This is an appropriate theme as 2008 is the 75th anniversary of polyethylene and the federation," said a spokesman.
"The talks will also give an account of where the industry is now and what the future holds. It will outline the direction in which the plastics industry is heading."
Show director Liz Finlay said: "The collaboration of polymer-focused organisations will ensure an exciting, interesting and controversial seminar programme."
Interplas 2008 at the NEC runs from 30 September to 2 October, register at www.interplas-expo.co.uk.
