RWM to hold recycling and waste management seminars

The Recycling and Waste Management exhibition, which takes place 16-18 September at the Birmingham NEC, is to include expert-led seminars on recycling and waste management.

The Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) will be on hand to tackle the topic of food waste and composting.

It will also outline the UK's first recycling qualification, recently established by Middlesex University and Wastepack.

The seminar programme will include Darren Johnson, chair of the London Assembly's Environment Committee, who will share the capital's experience of dealing with plastic bags and business waste.

It will also feature two speakers from B&Q who will outline the challenges the retailer faces when organising recycling of packaging at its stores.

The Environment Agency will explain how the waste protocols can help businesses to avoid unnecessary red tape and save money and the Watch Tower Society will present a case study of a printworks.
