Gabriel-Chemie increases prices

Gabriel-Chemie Group, the Austrian plastics colouring and masterbatch specialist, is to increase the price of its colour, additive and combination masterbatches from 1 September.

The increase will be between 4% and 8%, depending on the product and quantities.

Gabriel-Chemie general manager Rodolfo Santa Olalla said although the firm's raw material costs have gone up by 20%, it has been able to keep price adjustments "to below two digits".

The company has also announced three additive masterbatches for use in polyolefins.

Maxithen HP 7A4000 AM is an anti-microbial masterbatch based on inorganic silver zeolite, which allows a controlled release of silver ions that prevents the growth of bacteria, mould and yeasts.

Maxithen PP 7A4060 NU is a nucleating agent for use in polypropylene that is suitable for use in the production of injection-moulded thin wall packaging or household goods, blow-moulded bottles or containers and thermoformed cups and trays.

Maxithen PP 7A4070 FR is a new flame-retardant masterbatch for polypropylene, which offers high thermal and UV stability, while avoiding corrosive decomposition during processing.

Gabriel-Chemie Group has more than 30 years' experience in colouring and improving plastics and is a leading European producer of masterbatches.

The firm has plants in Paddock Wood, Kent, as well as in Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia, and employs 465 people. Annual turnover is €82m (£65m).
