Borealis launches PP film for food packs

Austria-based plastics manufacturer Borealis has introduced Borclear RE936CF PP film for food packaging and medical applications.

The firm said Borclear RE936CF allows more than 15% higher film line speed while maintaining good optical properties. It also remains transparent after sterilisation.

The film was developed using Borealis' PP 2G technology, which consists of a new catalyst system in combination with process improvements that provide better optical properties, stiffness and purity.

This technology also provides lower energy consumption of between 5-10% per ton produced, depending on the grade.

Nina Ackermans, Borealis application manager for film and fibre, said Borclear RE936CF is particularly suitable for films used in packaging convenience foods.
