Constantia Packaging continues to perform well

Constantia Packaging, the Austrian packaging group, has told investors it expects to increase full-year sales and profit despite the economic downturn and is "well positioned" for the years ahead.

In a statement to shareholders it said it expected full-year sales to increase to around €2.1bn (£1.7bn) and earnings before interest and tax to increase to more than €175m.

The statement added: "In light of recent events, Constantia Packaging, reiterates that it has no business ties — specifically no reciprocal receivables, payables, guarantees and other commitments — with Constantia Privatbank and Immofinanz/Immoeast Group."

Constantia Packaging has activities in the aluminium, corrugated board and flexible packaging segments.

It employs 8,400 people in Europe, Asia and North America. It has two operations in the UK – Constantia Flexibles in Kent.
