Keating Group falls into administration

The future of Keating Group, the packaging design and pre-press specialist, was unclear as Packaging News went to press, after the firm was placed in administration.

Around 125 staff were initially informed that the Flintshire-based firm was going into liquidation, but Packaging News learned that the company was subsequently in discussions with Ernst & Young about going into administration.

Ernst & Young confirmed it had been appointed to Keating Group Gravure Cylinders and Keating Group Mold.

The move does not affect overseas sites in Turkey, Sweden and the Philippines. The firm also has a site near Dublin, but was unavailable for comment on its future.

The administration had been blamed on a bank changing its mind about releasing money for the company.

Keating Group employed more than 350 staff globally.
