Redpack kicks off 2009 with boost from new contracts
Norwich-based Redpack Packaging Machinery has secured £150,000 worth of new contracts this year.
The flow-wrapping machine specialist declined to name the new customers, but said one contract was to provide one of the largest sandwich-packing companies in the UK with a new cardboard carton wedge sealing machine with an automatic feed.
Redpack revealed that it won contracts worth £250,000 in the days leading up to Christmas.
These included two machines used to wrap turkey burgers on trays and a third sold to the sandwich industry to film-wrap paninis ready for oven heating.
Redpack sales executive Peter Smith said he expected the food industry to remain buoyant as the credit crunch had led to many people eating at home.
The company completed a new extension on one of its two Norwich sites last year, is in the process of revamping all its computer and CAD systems and has just bought new tooling for its machine shop.
Around 85% of Redpack's sales come from the food industry and the rest is split between pharmaceutical and household goods.
