Mondi set to report huge loss for 2008
Paper and packaging group Mondi has said it will post a large loss for 2008 after taking EUR380m in one-off charges and after higher financing costs.
In a trading update, the company said it had taken impairment charges on the write down of both goodwill and tangible assets of around €285m and incurred retention, restructuring and closure costs of around €65m.
The remaining charges include costs related to asset disposal, financing costs and foreign exchange rates.
At the time of publication, the company's shares had fallen by 8.1% to reach 149.75p.
Mondi will release its full-year results on 26 February.
