Mercury Packaging secures pet foods deal

Flexible packaging manufacturer Mercury Packaging has won a contract to supply a variety of printed film-on-the-reel products to Pointer Pet Foods for a new range of dog biscuits and treats.

Developed to fulfil the pet food manufacturer’s protective, practical and decorative packaging requirements, Mercury produced the BRC-approved laminated films using various combinations of substrates including orientated and cast polypropylene (OPP / CPP) and polyester.

The products featured around 20 designs for 500g and 2kg packs of different flavoured bones, cobs, and treats.

The films were eight-colour printed by Mercury at its manufacturing facility in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

The company was unavailable to provide more details.

Mercury was established in 1999, employs more than 50 people and has a turnover in excess of £6m.
