Finishing equipment supplier Friedheim has highlighted the importance of packaging to its business after being appointed as exclusive UK agent for another packaging machinery manufacturer.

Friedheim marketing manager Neil Elliott told Packaging News that in the current financial climate, firms needed to "spread their business wings as far as possible".

Collating and wrapping line manufacturer Pfankuch Maschinen appointed Hemel Hempstead-based Friedheim as exclusive agent for the UK and Ireland in February and is currently running demonstrations for customers.

Pfankuch Maschinen specialises in machinery for a diverse range of industries, which can be adapted to incorporate scoring, folding, barcode reading and controlling, bundling, inkjet printing, gluing and labelling.

"The majority of products need packaging, so it's still one of the areas that's very important in terms of market sector," said Elliott.

He admitted that the company was continually assessing ways to expand.

Friedheim is also exclusive agent in the UK and Ireland for machinery manufacturers Beck Packautomaten, Audion Elektro and Iman Pack.
