CRP targets point-of-sale with 'world-first' digital press
CRP Print and Packaging is targeting the point-of-sale digital print market after installing an exclusive digital press at its Northamptonshire facility.
The FastJet press is, according to the company, the first of its kind in the world and is the result of a joint venture with ink manufacturer Sun Chemical and digital press manufacturer Inca.
It is capable of printing on corrugated substrates and solid board up to 9mm thickness, with speeds of 3,000 sheets per hour possible.
Dev Brahmachari, sales and marketing director at the Corby-based firm, said that the press offered production "as fast as a flexo printer but [with] unlimited flexibility in terms of design changes".
"The technology allows our customers to create a new image, proof it on the press and launch it to market instantaneously.
"Photographic images, high-gloss prints and colour consistency are all achieved at a fraction of the cost and time of screen or litho printing with no origination costs," he added.
CRP has targeted the point-of-sale market, where the technology has been embraced by many major brand owners, and is offering the press to manufacture short runs of samples so customers can view a finished unit before they invest in longer runs.
