Rexam produces festival beer can

Rexam has produced cans for Austrian brewery Ottakringer that is looking to market its limited edition beer to summer festival goers.

Rexam is manufacturing the 500ml cans for "Ottarocker" at its Enzesfeld factory and is using matt varnish printing to provide a simple, but premium design.

Ottakringer chief executive Sigi Menz said the can was the ideal format for the outdoor market.

"On-the-go consumption is on the increase. However, with the summer months approaching, consumers will be looking more and more for convenient, safe packaging to buy at outdoor events such as rock concerts," he said.

Rexam said the fact the cans were unbreakable and recyclable meant they were suited to situations that generate a lot of waste and where safety is important and had already proved to be popular at events such as Berlin's Loveparade.

Harald Moser, Rexam Austrian sales director said: "Rexam has been working hard with Ottakringer to ensure that they are able to offer high quality and convenience to consumers as well as stand out from the crowd."
