SAICA announces final go-ahead for £290m mill
BREAKING NEWS - SAICA has today announced construction will go ahead on its £290m paper mill in Manchester, quashing doubts over the project's future.
The creation of the new paper mill at the Partington Wharfside development will provide up to 200 jobs. A planning application was first lodged in August 2007.
The Spanish-owned group will manufacture approximately 400,000 tonnes of 100% recycled containerboard at the site.
The company plans to install a state of the art 7.5m-wide paper machine at the site to produce the high quality lightweight board.
SAICA has invested over £470m in the UK since 2007 when it acquired International Paper's packaging business in the UK.
The Spanish company later paid £100m to acquire 19 of SCA's plants in the UK.
