Contract packer Bluefrog Packing is aiming to broaden its market into the drinks and household goods sectors after a £40,000 investment in a new steam tunnel and sleeve applicator.

The Swindon facility of the firm has installed a Graham steam tunnel and a CFB Flame Boilers VT series steam generator and chemical dosing system.

The investment is a response to increasing demand for off-line promotional sleeving and tamper evident seals.

Bluefrog, which is a member of the BCMPA and works with CCL Decorative Sleeves, is hoping that the installation will help it enter new markets and also to offer a steam sleeving service  to manufacturers and design agencies in the south of England.

Sales and operations director Steve May, who founded the business with managing director Carl Law, said that the investment would help it broaden its customer base from its existing health and beauty clients to include the drinks and household goods sectors.

“The installation of the new steam sleeving capability is in line with the company strategy to enhance the service offering to our current customer portfolio, as well as attracting new customers with off line promotional capabilities,” he said.

Bluefrog is based in Swindon and employs around 40 staff working for clients including Sainsbury’s, M&S, LF Beauty, Craster and more.
