With a total area of around 2,700sqm, the Swindon-based company said it can offer even more benefits to the UK packaging industry.
The newly reopened building is due to be officially inaugurated in March as part of a major customer event. The packaging solutions provider was founded in 1985 and today has 120 employees. The original building had gone through a number of transformations and additions since it was purpose built for the company.
An important part of the business for Multivac UK is the training service provided to both customers and Multivac technicians. It has significantly invested into improving the existing training area, expanded to 2,000 square metres.
This includes a dedicated practical training area and a brand new classroom, with the latest audio-video technology. These new facilities for customer training, enable significant expansion into this increasingly critical area in the future.
In addition to the new training facilities, a new temperature-controlled Product Development Centre has been built.
The new facility was designed in-house alongside Demeva, one of the UK’s leading chilled food factory specialists, who carried out the installation. The temperature controlled 40sqm area features a separate changing room and full hygiene facilities to enable advanced processing and packaging trials.
This will provide the single biggest change and industry impact that the refurbishment will introduce. “With these facilities, we can now offer our customers additional options for carrying out packaging tests,” said John Lakin, managing director. “The installation of the demo room will completely change the type of trials we can now carry out. Multivac can now provide an area suitable for shelf life trials and edible sample manufacture, cutting new product development times drastically for processors and retailers alike.”
The company’s product portfolio includes thermoforming packaging machines, traysealers, chamber machines, labelling and quality inspection systems and turnkey production lines.
