Ciba launches Nordic styling range

September 19, 2008 Comments Off

Ciba, which supplies coating chemicals to the packaging industry, has launched a series of new styling effects to help the creation of a wide variety of novel and exclusive printed designs

The Xymara Nordic stylings have been developed for screen inks and are also suitable for gravure printing.

Applications include luxury packaging, labels for high-end products and point-of-sales graphics.

The stylings are based on the effects of crystal, amber, ruby, amethyst, topaz, emerald and opal.

Ciba said the effects reflect natural shades, with additional shimmer, shine and sparkle – discreet or dynamic, as required.

Ana Perroni, marketing manager for inks, said: “A striking image and distinctive product branding are key success factors today. Nordic stylings add sparkle to a company’s personality and individuality to its products.”

Ciba has operations in more than 120 countries and generated sales of CHF6.5bn (£3.1bn) in 2007.

Earlier this month, BASF, which supplies materials to the packaging industry, made an offer to acquire Ciba Holdings for CHF6.1bn.
