Coca-Cola ‘in discussions’ over CC2Simeon Goldstein, 9 March 2010Be the first to comment on this article Coca-Cola has said it is discussing with Wrap “specific details” of Courtauld Commitment 2 (CC2) but has not ruled out signing up to the new agreement. Coca-Cola signed the first phase of Courtauld in 2007 but was not among the 28 brands and retailers that were announced at last week’s launch. The new agreement targets a 12% reduction in the carbon impact of grocery packaging by 2012, based on 2009 levels. It also aims for a 4% reduction for household food and waste; and a 5% reduction for product and packaging waste in the supply chain A Coca-Cola spokesperson said in a statement that the firm’s commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainability had “never been stronger”. “We are currently in discussions with Wrap regarding the second phase of the Courtauld Commitment, relating to understanding in full certain specific details of the commitments,” the spokesperson said. Marks & Spencer and Procter & Gamble were also absent from last week’s launch, but while M&S has committed to signing CC2, P&G said it would not be joining as it was too UK-focused for an international company. CC2 has also been welcomed by a number of trade bodies, including the British Retail Consortium and the Food and Drink Federation. Speak Your Mind |
