Logistics firm AKW Group has invested 150,000 in an IT system for its contract packaging division to provide customers up-to-date information about the state of their orders.

Access Supply Chain tracks batches of goods in real time to help streamline business processes such as warehousing and job control.

Customers can find out how their orders are progressing online.

Rebecca Davies, director of AKW’s contract packaging service, said the investment was crucial to providing the best customer service.

“Our contract packaging service requires us to work to completely individual and detailed specifications for each job in very short timescales,” she said.

“The new system will give customers full confidence that we are able to meet these requirements and get the product to where it needs to be on time.”

Last year, AKW invested £800,000 in its Trafford Park site to accommodate extra warehousing and contract packing.

AKW’s contract packing division operates in the gift set, shelf-ready packaging, sleeving and labelling markets, among others.

Its customers include multinationals such as L’Oréal and Unilever.
