The new bottle, made by APPE, is reported to represent a 90% saving in weight compared to the previous glass bottle.
It is the latest new packaging development from Asda after, earlier this month, it launched a new bag for its Jersey Royal potatoes that is made of Evap film and will extend the shelf life of the product.
Asda’s new salad dressing bottles have been designed by APPE’s design facility in Belgium and are manufactured at the company’s factory in the UK near Wrexham.
Suzie Hardy, senior packaging development manager at Asda, said: “The high clarity of the material and premium shape promotes the quality of our Chosen by You brand.
“The new design features all of the convenience of the glass bottle and brings with it great environmental benefits.”
