Around 50 firefighters were called to tackle a blaze that swept through Natsons Midland Packaging in Leicestershire last night.

A total of 10 fire engines from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene just before 8pm.

Five engines were still in attendance at the scene early this morning, but this was scaled back to three pumps at 7am.

People living near the site concerned about smoke were advised to close all windows and doors by the fire service.

The BBC reported that people living near the site had been told to secure their properties over concerns of asbestos in the burning building.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue reported that an inspection into the cause of the fire was underway.

There were no reports of casualties from police.

Natsons Midland Packaging specialises in packaging toilet tissue, kitchen rolls and nappies.
