Launched in January 2015, Tetra Rex is the world’s first package made entirely from plant based materials.
It has gained popularity among consumers across Finland, Sweden and Norway, with brands such as Valio, Arla Foods, Vermlands Mejeri, and TINE.
Bjørn Malm, head of corporate responsibility at TINE, said the dairy products company’s shift to sustainable growth is good for the environment and improves competitiveness, providing product differentiation.
“Thanks to Tetra Rex Bio-based we have been able to take a significant step towards our own environmental goals and have committed to making all our milk cartons renewable from next year”.
After winning a sleuth of awards last year, Charles Brand, executive vice president product management and commercial operations at Tetra Pak, said the company was confident of delivering 100 million packs this year.
