Waste-Works focuses purely on suppliers of resource efficiency solutions to the hospitality sector and the debate will centre on foodservice packaging post-use recovery and recycling.
The panel, chaired by the Foodservice Packaging Association’s executive director Martin Kersh, aims to “Demonstrate that by creating collaboration across the supply chain, foodservice packaging can be successfully recovered and recycled so that the full potential of the high quality materials, from which it is made, is exploited.”
The panel, which continues the debate held at the FPA’s annual Environment Seminar in January 2016, comprises Helen McFarlane, of the Environment Team at McDonald’s Restaurants, Peter Goodwin from the Simply Cups recycling group and Richard Burnett of James Cropper. McDonald’s Restaurants and James Cropper have recently announced a ground-breaking partnership to recover paper hot cups from McDonald’s Restaurants UK stores, facilitated by Simply Cups.
“The foodservice sector is engaged in real debate over working together to deliver increased recovery and recycling rates,” said Kersh. “Across the supply chain we acknowledge that the high quality materials used in foodservice packaging are a valuable resource. By working together and coming up with innovative solutions we can maximise the value of this resource in a viable and responsible way. We are looking forward to a lively debate to move this issue on.”
