Nampak’s new in-plant milk bottle facility in Northern Ireland will produce more than 2.5 million HDPE bottles a week when a fourth line comes on line later this month.

Nampak revealed it was making the £3.25m investment at Dale Farm’s Ballymena site in March, to help develop the firms’ presence on the whole island of Ireland.

The site is now operational with three lines producing one pint, one litre and two litre bottles.

A fourth line to produce two-litre bottles is expected to be operational later this month and will boost output to more than 2.5m bottles a week.

The operation currently employs 16 staff who will be joined by a further nine workers by the end of the year.

Nampak Plastics sales director Jamie Tinsley said: “We are all delighted that the construction and commissioning of this exciting new in-plant has been delivered on time, in full and to budget.”

The Dale Farm site is Nampak’s sixth in-plant facility in the UK.

Nampak made a £3 million investment in the project that was supported by significant investment by Dale Farm in the dairy and the necessary infrastructure.

Invest NI, Northern Ireland’s Economic Development Agency and the European Regional Development Fund also provided financial assistance to the project.
