Pharmaceuticals firm Piramel Healthcare has invested in two Videojet 3320 lasers to replace existing product marking equipment.

Morpeth-based Piramal produces a range of tablet and blister-packed drugs and healthcare products for a wide range of pharmaceutical companies.

Piramel has installed two Videojet 3320 lasers to improve its production process and the lasers are coding 180 products a minute over a 12.5-hour, 6-day week shift.

Production engineer Steve Rushworth said: “Being able to deliver a quality code at the right speed for the application was very important to us.”

The lasers also make the working environment more pleasant as they remove the bad odours present in the previous equipment.

Videojet manufactures a range of coding, printing and laser-marking products and has more that 275,000 units installed worldwide.
