The Gateshead-based firm has been an EPAL licensed manufacturer for a number of years and its manufacturing processes and technology have been assessed to ensure they meet EPAL’s exacting standards.
TWP Packaging managing director Peter McKenzie said: “To be the first is significant as it is a market statement that TWP Packaging is about all aspects of quality of its product lines, particularly repaired pallets.
“This is not just an internal view of quality but an independent assessment that pallets are inspected under strict quality procedures, at regular intervals.”
All EPAL-controlled wooden pallets are marked with a quality control staple bearing the EPAL quality mark. Repaired pallets are certified with an EPAL repair marking nail.
TWP employs 93 people in Gateshead and set up an operation in Henan Province in China in January.
