WINNER

CEVA Logistics: Longspacs

The Longspacs product won our judges’ praise for being a “fabulous solution to reusable packaging for large items”. The packaging, which has been developed over two years by B&Q and logistics specialist CEVA, is now being used to transport components such as plinths, pelmets and cornices from B&Q’s showroom fulfilment centre based in Branston, Staffordshire.

It has prevented some 435 tonnes of cardboard waste and saved the company about £80,000 per year. They also felt that it was a “nod to the future solutions” to help the packaging industry.

HIGHLY COMMENDED

Home Retail Group in partnership with Atlas Bubble and Kuehne + Nagel: Reusable Sofa Bag

Since this pack was introduced in May 2010, it has stopped more than 1,500 tonnes of upholstered furniture packaging going to landfill – a major achievement, our judges felt. One said the LDPP bag was “a great solution to reduce the amount of packaging in this category.”
