Ultimate Packaging launches digital print arm

Flexibles group Ultimate Packaging has established a new company that will specialise in digital printing for flexible packaging.

Shere Print, a new division within the growing flexibles group, was set up in December and is based in Lincolnshire.

Aimed at responding to demand for smaller production runs, the company is also claiming a UK first with the installation of the country’s only HP Indigo WS6600 printing press.

The company, which is based in Lincolnshire and was set up in December last year as a division of Ultimate Packaging, will use the press for short-run jobs that are increasingly required to reduce waste and storage costs.

Chris Tonge, sales and marketing director at Ultimate Packaging, said: “The digital market is still new to us, but our expectations are high.

“We are aiming to become one of the world’s leading businesses in the digital packaging industry and I believe that the latest HP technology will support us and help make this a reality.”

As well as handling smaller orders, Ultimate is planning to offer Shere Print customers options specific to digital print such as personalisation, coding and marking.

It will also be able to use HP Indigo’s white ink, opening the possibility of printing onto substrates such as transparent and metallic materials.

“To meet our objectives for the company, we need to offer innovative products that meet today’s marketing trends,” said Tonge.

Ultimate Packaging is established as a flexo printer and also recently launched a design and photography business. Sphere Print has been set up to offer purely digital, narrow web packaging production.

“Shere Print is still in the early stages of development, but we are confident it will grow quickly and establish a clear competitive edge,” said Tonge.

  1. Congratulations are due to Chris and his Team for further development and innovation at a time when most SME’s are carefully nursing a severe lack of confidence.
