Digital print technology firm Xeikon is to two new presses to its 3000 family of narrow-web toner-based machines.

The Belgian firm has upgraded its original 3000 model to the 3030, which will be launched at this month’s Labelexpo Americas in Chicago. The press has a maximum web width of 330mm.

Meanwhile, a completely new entry-level model, the 3050, is being launched with a wider maximum web of 516mm.

The top end 3500 model, which can handle webs up to 516mm but at much higher volumes than the entry-level presses, is also going to be on show at the Labelexpo Americas show. A high-volume 330mm option, the 3300, is already part of the range.

Xeikon business development manager for labels and packaging Filip Weymans said: “Since we introduced the Xeikon 3000 at Labelexpo Americas 2008 and the Xeikon 3300 at drupa 2008, our sales revenues in the label market have grown substantially despite the economic downturn.”

Weymans claimed that the four presses in the 3000 range – the 3030, 3050, 3300 and 3500 – now form the “strongest and broadest” offering for digital label presses from a single manufacturer.

Both the 3030 and 3050 models can be upgraded at a customers’ site to produce at higher volumes, while all the presses can, Xeikon said, print onto substrates including BOPP, PVC and PET and paper and board weights from 40gsm to 350gsm.
