Huhtamaki sinks £12m into Thai flexible facility

Huhtamaki is investing £12m (€17m) in a second flexible packaging plant in Thailand to cater for the local food and consumer goods industries.

The new facility, which is expected to start production in summer 2008, will be located close to the company’s existing plant at Samutsakorn, Bangkok.

Huhtamaki hopes further investment in the region will help it to capitalise on growth in food-related markets.

Chief executive Heikki Takanen said: “This market is growing rapidly, by more than 10% per year, and we want to make investments in order to capture the growth.”
