Symphony Environmental joins British Plastics Federation

September 20, 2010 Comments Off

Oxo-degradable additive firm Symphony Environmental has become the latest member of trade body the British Plastics Federation

Symphony chief executive Michael Laurier said joining the BPF would enable it to contribute to the development of industry standards.

“The platform provided by the BPF is an excellent means of securing industry consensus,” said Laurier.

Oxo-degradable plastics made the headlines this year when a Defra report suggested that they did not make packaging more environmentally friendly.

Symphony criticised the report as “the latest salvo” in the oxo- versus hydro-degradable debate.

Symphony is active in 92 countries through 57 Distributors.

In May, Spanish hotel group NH said it was adopting oxo-degradable additives for products such as shampoo bottles, shower caps and pens.
