Zebra sets its sights on high-volume FMCG products
Zebra Technologies is targeting a small but smart, high-frequency RFID printer and encoder at monster-volume work such as DVDs, books and pharmaceuticals.
The R110Xi HF tabletop box (pictured) is designed for high-volume on-demand smart label printing and RFID tag encoding so companies can track items, said the firm.
“It capitalises on key areas where the high-frequency technology outshines UHF such as data storage and available memory,” said Phil Gerskovich, senior vice president of development at Zebra.
“It has the flexibility to be read in proximity to materials such as liquid and metals, and boasts faster encoding and printing of labels.”
RF110Xi HF gives users print widths of up to 10cm and print resolutions of up to 300dpi. It offers XML encoding for integration into existing systems and can print up to 25cm per second.
Richard Hughes-Rowland, Zebra Technologies product manager in the UK, said: “The Xi printer is our flagship high-end product and this new machine offers RFID to help companies merge internal processes and track products.
“The launch represents growing confidence from manufacturers in RFID technology,” he added. “It is an important addition to Zebra’s range of RFID products.”
