Marks & Spencer, Asda, Innocent Drinks, Coca-Cola and Unilever are among the front-runners to be named as the top packaging clients of the year by Packaging News readers.

M&S and Asda are leading the field in voting for the new UK Packaging Awards Readers’ Choice award for Retail Client of the Year, while Innocent, Coca-Cola and Unilever top the polling for Brand Client of the Year.

In the third Readers’ Choice award, for Waste Management Company of the Year, Closed Loop London, Veolia, Biffa and Severnside are all in the running for awards.

In all three categories, readers have been asked to consider not only how innovative the companies are as clients but also how much they have done to support packaging in the public sphere in the last year.

Voting for the Readers’ Choice awards closes at 5pm next Wednesday, 8 October. To vote, click here.

Winners for all three categories will be announced at the awards ceremony, the top night out in the industry’s calendar, on 3 November at the Grosvenor House hotel on Park Lane in London.

The three gongs mark the first time that Packaging News readers have been directly polled on winners for the UK Packaging Awards.

Packaging News editor Josh Brooks said: “Giving our readers a vote means that the entire industry will celebrate the winners. Winning a Readers’ Choice award will be a real vote of confidence from the packaging sector.”

On the supplier side, Benson Group and Staeger Clear Packaging have been shortlisted to win the top award on the night, the Packaging Company of the Year, which was won by DS Smith Speciality Packaging last year.

A limited number of places are still available for the awards. To book your place call David Felice on 020 8267 4017 or email david.felice@haymarket.com.
