Consumer insight firm Eyetracker is offering visitors to this month’s easyFairs show the chance to try out its technology in a mock supermarket aisle.

Eyetracker’s technology was initially developed for the Ministry of Defence and is used to record exactly what consumers focus on to help make effective packaging.

Eyetracker research director Iain Janes will also be giving a seminar on the importance of researching consumer patterns as part of the learnShop programme.

“With packaging being the main reason why a consumer picks up a product or not, it is important we understand what draws them in,” he said.

“Eyetracker allows us to see exactly what consumers are focusing on and understand a shopper’s journey and how they navigate their route to purchase.”

The Eyetracker glasses work by one side filming the eye’s rapid movements and the other the packaging they are looking at to draw up an accurate picture of what consumers’ eyes are drawn to.

Eyetracker will be on stand 671 at the easyFairs show that runs on 24-25 February at the NEC in Birmingham.
