Soap Box – have your say on the Courtauld Commitment

This week, Soap Box wants the industry’s views on Wrap’s announcement that the Courtauld Commitment has reached its initial target of reducing packaging waste growth.

Wrap now plans to increase Courtauld’s focus on food waste and to deliver absolute reductions in packaging waste by 2010. It is also planning to increasingly judge packaging on its carbon footprint rather than its weight.

In their coverage of Monday’s announcement, however, The Daily Telegraph and The Daily Mail focused on the possibility, raised by waste minister Joan Ruddock, that retailers could be forced to charge for single-use plastic bags by the autumn.
