Wasdell Packaging has started work on its new purpose-built facility in Swindon, which will create more than 200 jobs in the area.

The new facility will house 22 state-of-the-art production suites for the packing of pharmaceutical, healthcare and cosmetics products.

The company expects work to be completed on the £2.2m facility in June. More than 200 jobs are expected to be created at the site.

Wasdell has allotted 186m² out of the total 5,853m² capacity of the new site to a cold storage facility to cater for the growing demand for cold chain supply in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and cosmetics markets.

Wasdell Packaging has an existing site in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire with 20 production lines capable of blister packing and container, liquid and sachet filling.

Investment has already taken place at this facility in the form of new labellers and a six-headed liquid filling machine with nitrogen flush capability.

Wasdell Packaging’s managing director Martin Tedham said the move was a strategic one.

“Not only has it great transportation links and an abundance of skilled labour, but it is significantly growing as a town and we want to be part of that,” said Tedham.

The investment in Wasdell Packaging was announced when Martin Tedham bought a majority stake in the company in August 2009.
