Buoyant Kingston Carton boosts capacity with Bobst investment

The Visioncut 106 LE die-cutter and Expertfold 110 A2 folder-gluer were installed three weeks ago and are now up and running. The investment will help the firm increase its production volume to meet demand, according to managing director Arend Buitendam.

Visioncut 106 uses camera technology to register the sheet edge or the print itself to the die-cutting tools. This reduces pauses in production and maintains die-cutting quality regardless of variations in the print.

The Expertfold machine is used for straightline, crashlock and four and six-corner carton production and it can run up to 450 metres per minute.

Buitendam said the firm had been delighted with its exisiting Bobst equipment and the back-up service. “Once a machine is installed, they don’t just walk away and leave you to get on with it. Instead they have come back regularly to advise us and to help our staff keep up to date on all the latest developments in each field,” he said.

Established in 1917, Kingston Carton is based in Hull and works across all aspects of carton manufacture from design, printing, conversion and finishing through to storage and distribution.
