CEO retirement prompts Borealis board shake-upstevenkiernan, 1 February 2007Be the first to comment on this article Austria-based plastics manufacturer Borealis has announced a number of management changes, including the appointment of its next chief executive. Mark Garrett (pictured) will be chief executive after John Taylor retires at the end of 2007. He will join Borealis on 1 April from Ciba Specialty Chemicals, where he is executive vice president of water and paper treatment. Elsewhere, Borouge, Borealis’ joint venture with Abu Dhabi National Oil, has named Harald Hammer, Borealis film and fibre vice president, as chief executive of Borouge Pte, its Singapore-based marketing company. Borouge provides plastic products in the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa. Hammer, who takes over from Hubert Puchner, has been replaced as film and fibre vice president by Borealis’ director of commercial excellence, Marc Hubert. Along with the board-level changes, Borealis has produced a new polypropylene grade, BH374MO, specifically to meet converter and OEM demands for a plastic pail material that could reduce packaging weights, offer better stacking performance and have high-impact resistance.
