Vacuum firm brings box-making in-house

An SC164 slitter corrects sized blanks from stock corrugated sheet, then a Boxmaker 1070 slots and creases the blanks ready for finishing – either with a hot glue melt or pneumatic stapler.

The 1070 stores frequently used box sizes in its memory and can be re-programmed to produce a different size in less than a minute.

Instead of stocking finished boxes for lower-volume and special products, Numatic buys one standard stock size of sheet corrugated board and makes the boxes in-house.

However, it continues to outsource printed or plain boxes for high-volume products such as its Henry vacuum cleaner.

Autobox, which is based in Leighton Buzzard, manufactures a range of box-making machines for end users that can be operated by unskilled workers.
