Datalase to reveal changes to coding systemsliz.wells@haymarket.com, 10 April 2008Be the first to comment on this article Datalase will unveil upgrades to its Casemark and Packmack coding and marking systems for primary and secondary packing at Interpack 2008. The Widnes-based firm said the new labelling systems would be the first to use dedicated high-speed fibre laser technology and would produce "consistent, indelible and traceable" product identification at speeds faster than a conventional CO2 laser. Casemark is a label replacement technology that uses laser light to image bar codes onto secondary packaging. The Casemark material is applied directly to the pack in the required mark area and a computer-controlled beam of laser light 'writes' the required data onto the mark area. The printed message and bar codes are 100% permanent and cannot be removed after printing. Packmark uses colour-change technology to apply date and bar codes to printed packaging. Packmark-treated packaging is exposed to a computer-controlled CO2 laser and when exposed the chemistry undergoes a colour-change reaction to form a positive contrast image. Datalase will be on stand D02-2 in hall 5 of the Messe Düsseldorf during Interpack, which runs from 24-30 April. Speak Your Mind |
