Industrial Inkjet launches digital label printer

The machine’s reel-to-reel transport mechanism can handle stock rolls up to a maximum diameter of 620mm. Although the TIJ 2048C/400 offers an average print speed of 20 metres per minute, the output speed varies dependant on the image being printed.

According to IIJ, the machine can handle maximum media width up to 400mm and is equipped with Konica Minolta’s KM1024 printhead, which it claimed was the most reliable printhead for single-pass label printing.

John Corrall, managing director of IIJ, said there are many opportunities in the label market and the launch of the Tecom printer will enable the business to compare inkjet technology with toner-based alternatives on the market.

He added: “Digital label printing is a tough market right now, and there are many digital machines available, but we believe the introduction of the TIJ 2048C/400 will be a real success because of its outstanding ease of use and reliability, which fully meet the needs of clients in this market.”

Josef Trs, general director of Tecom added: “We found that our inkjet printer produces, in many cases, better colour results than our traditional flexo printing machine. Our clients appreciated the quality of the inkjet printing.”
