EU project to align RFID standardsstevenkiernan, 7 February 2008Be the first to comment on this article Packaging applications for RFID will be considered in a new EU-backed project aimed at making it easy for different standards to work together.
GS1's EPCglobal business manager David Lyon said a global standard would be "greatly beneficial" in a "more extended supply chain", and firms would gain from improved efficiencies and performance. "The programme is to ensure that less or no time is wasted in the supply chain [from incompatibility of differing regional systems]," he said. The two-year project will involve a number of GS1's member organisations from around the world, including in South Africa, Brazil and China. Lyon said: "We need to capitalise on [the work on standards] that has been done before to achieve consistency." For more information on the project, visit www.grifs-project.eu. Speak Your Mind |
