The show organiser has reported some 4,409 visitors to the four-in-one event last week, which included Packaging Innovations, EcoPack, PackTech and Contract Pack, up from 4,208 in 2010.
In addition, some 71% of the exhibitors have signed up for next year’s NEC show, which will take place on 29 February-1 March 2012.
Packaging News is the official media partner for easyFairs’ packaging events and organised one of the learnShop conference theatres at the Packaging Innovations show, hosting talks from brand owners such as Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Associated British Foods and on-the-go food specialist Adelie Foods.
EasyFairs UK managing director Matt Benyon said: “The NEC is our flagship packaging show and year on year it just keeps getting better and better.
“We’ll continue to represent the wider industry and add new show features to keep the buzz alive.”
Other key features at the show were the Lions’ Lair, a BBC Dragons’ Den-style contest in which exhibitors presented their latest innovations to a panel of high-profile packaging experts, and the Big Packaging Debate, which led to a heated discussion over public perceptions on packaging.
Elsewhere, SIG Combibloc hosted an all-juice cocktail bar and organisations including Wrap, BPIF Cartons, the Packaging Society and the NNFCC hosted learnShop seminar programmes.
Exhibitors also reported a successful show. CFN Packaging sales director Peter Wood reported “a lot of positive enquiries from many new contacts“, while M&H Plastics marketing manager Vicki John said that the company received more enquiries than at any previous show.
EasyFairs’ next UK packaging show will be its London Packaging Innovations event at the Business Design Centre in Islington on 6-7 October.
Packaging News will again be producing the only official Show Guide for the London event. For more information on how to advertise in the Guide, contact Susan Bann on 020 8267 8656 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
